UV Safety Month

July is UV safety month. I posted a link to my article on summer safety tips last month, but if you missed it, you can read the article here.

Here is a short list of some of the things cat owners should do (or not do) in order to keep their felines safe this summer:

-Always put sunscreen on a white cat, even if he/she stays indoors. He/she can get burned even if she sits in the sun while looking out his/her favorite window. Use a pet approved sunscreen.

-Brush your cat often to remove loose hair.

-Never leave your cat in the car alone. The inside of vehicles heat quickly.

-If your cat goes outside, make sure he/she has access to shade and plenty of water.

Keep in mind that cats can suffer heat exhaustion, heat stroke, and sunburns just like we can. Keep your cat safe this summer by using these tips.

  1. Good tips we should all be reminded of and practice. Didn't know there's kitty sunscreen.
