Carmine's been on his antibiotic - ClindaCure - for a a couple of days now. I could tell right away it was upsetting his tummy because he didn't eat much of his wet food at dinner since he's been on it.
I just went to watch Carmine in his box (yes, I know, I'm strange, but sometimes I like to make sure he's still urinating since he has FLUTD) and he had lots of diarrhea. :(
Our vet doesn't open until Tuesday. Should I keep giving it to him?
I cannot stand to see him suffer. It hurts me to know that this is making his tummy upset. :(
I think Carmine could use some nice healing purrs and hugs about now.
Aw, purrs and prayers for Carmine! Does your vet have a help line? An emergency number for when they're closed? Maybe you can get someone on the phone to tell you if you should continue the antibiotic or not?
ReplyDeletePurrs for Carmine. Antibiotics often cause loose stools in humans, too. Hopefully your vet will have a suggestion.
ReplyDeleteWhen they are closed our vet has a message telling us which vet is on call with a phone number to contact them on.
ReplyDeleteLuv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
Are you able to get hold of some pro or pre biotics?
ReplyDeleteI hope he feels better soon.

The antibiotic can cause diarrhea. Is there an emergency clinic that you could call? Sometimes they'll give you some advice over the phone.

ReplyDeleteThank you, everyone! I decided to stop giving it to him until Tuesday. He is much happier today; I can tell his tummy isn't bothering him because he's much more himself than he has been the past couple days. I'll keep everyone posted.
ReplyDeleteWe are so sorry Carmine is reacting badly to his antibiotic. They can be such powerful medications. Hopefully the vet cab adjust his dosage? Thanks for coming to our party, especially when you are worried and not feeling well. We'll be purring for Carmine.

It's now Tuesday so we expect that you have spoken with the vet but incase you haven't been able to yet, we think the suggestions to stop giving the antibiotic and to give some probiotic are really good.

it looks as if carmine plans to sleep through the discomfort, which seems to us to be a good plan. Hope you can get to the VET on Tuesday.
