Did you know that Jewel was a mom? Her former owner told me that Jewel had one litter of kittens before she was spayed. He said that she had two white kittens! Someday, I'd like to learn more about how genetics influence a cat's coloring - it fascinates me that two completely white kittens came from Jewel.
When I asked how Jewel was with her little kittens, her former owner told me that she "tolerated them." Even if she just tolerated them, I bet she was a good mom.
I've been struggling a lot with my grief over Jewel the past few weeks. What I wouldn't do to have just one more day with my sweet angel.
Oh, I'll bet she was a darn good Mom too!

My human has learned a lot about kitty genetics from my breeder, and from some posts on A Tonk's Tail (they did one post in particular on how the Meezer gene works). It's really interesting!
ReplyDeleteI was able to talk to my Angel Sashi's former home and found out that she had one litter as well and was a wonderful mom. Tara was spayed just before I got her around age 8 so I'm sure she had many kittens. It's probably silly, but I've always hoped that Truffles might be related to her somewhere down the line, because they both come from the same area.
