Jewel's Journey

Jewel laying on her former owner's couch
I have a lot of nicknames for my kitties.  For instance, I call Carmine: Moo (because he says, "Mooooo" sometimes when you hold him) or Carmy.  I call Milita: Lita, Tweeta (because she tweets a lot), and Bird.

Jewel also had nicknames.  One of them was Zuul - yes, the character in the Ghostbusters movie!  We thought it was cute because it rhymes with Jewel.  After she lost weight, we started calling her TGC - Tiny Gray Cat.

My friend D and I also liked to make up little rhymes about her.  We'd say, "Jewel is no fool.  She's been to school."  We would make up silly songs about her, too - and I still do this with Carmine and Lita.

Yes, we are pretty silly around here, but it's a lot of fun!

Does your cat have any nicknames?

  2. Aw, I love this post. I always wondered if I was the only one who gives my furbabies about a gazillion nicknames. They all have their own little songs and rhymes as well.

For example, my little ladycat Thimble has the nickname RoboKitty, because as a kitten her meow always sounded very gruff and robotic. My mancat Evan gets called Evan Fergus or sometimes just Fergus, on account of his red hair. My dog Astrid is often called Pouty Puppy, because she loves to pout to get her way. My parents have a cat named Talon that I call Batman because of his natural black mask, and I call their other mancat Trapper by the nickname Big Boy on account of his size. I could go on and on...

  3. Some of my cats have nick names but it is all I can do to remember all their names at all. Luckily every single cat does know their name.

  5. Sometimes I think my nickname is "NO, don't be doing!" I'm at the airport right now, on my leash, and I'm getting a lot of that. I guess I'm not supposed to go behind the desk or rub on stranger's suitcases.
