Hi everyone, it's Milita today!
Today is Carmine's Gotcha Day! Please be sure to wish him a happy day, okay?
You are probably wondering why I am posting on Carmine's Gotcha Day, right? Well, to be honest, the Mom forgot today was Carmine's Gotcha Day. She only realized it when she was looking at her Facebook memories, MOL. Isn't that awful?! If I were Carmine, I'd make her feel very guilty about that.
I wanted to give everyone an update about me.
I have continued to struggle with my asthma. I have at least one asthma attack a week still (last week, I had two). The Mom says some of my struggles have to do with the fire we had in the building a couple of weeks ago and from the fire in Canada, but she still doesn't like me struggling so much. The fire here was two floors above us and on the other side of the building. Nobody was hurt, but many of our neighbors on the other side of the building got flooded from all the water they had to use to put the fire out. In fact, there are still very noisy fans in the hallways trying to dry out the floors, and some people even have them in their apartments!
Anyway, the Mom talked with Dr. M, and she suggested that I switch from Terbutaline to Cyproheptadine for my asthma because raising the Terbutaline would raise my heart rate, and neither the Mom nor Dr. M wanted that! So the Mom now has me on Cyproheptadine and Prednisolone while we wait for the Flovent inhaler. Now that I am on the Cypro, I am even hungrier than normal! The Mom hopes the Flovent will be here soon so they can start to get me off of some of this other medication. The thought of not having to have pills twice a day sure does sound nice...
I hear that Carmine is going to the vet tomorrow. He has to go every three months to get his anal glands expressed. The Mom says he is due for his semi-annual checkup, too. She will talk with Dr. M about adjusting his Cerenia schedule, she says, because Carmine has slowed down on his nomming again. I swear, I will never understand my brother - food is sooooo yummy!!!
I'm sure Carmine will tell you all about his visit next week. Have a good week, everyone!
Happy Gotcha Day to Carmine! We hope he has a fun day. And we're sorry to hear you're still having problems with your asthma, Milita. We hope the right medicines can be found to help you.

Cats don't care about anniversaries and gotcha days...they live in a fluid space-time continuum! However, Carmine, wishing you a Happy Gotcha Day...but going to the v-e-t on your special day?! Eeeks! Hope you feel better with the changeup in meds, Milita!

We wish Carmine a very happy and cuddle filled Gotcha Day! We left you a card of FB dear friend.
ReplyDeleteMilita when you start the inhaler make sure you keep up the steroids as it takes a while to kick in. Rumpy is having his short attacks a bit more this spring but he was on a low dose of prednisolone every 3rd day. Dad had kicked it up a bit. We have a lot of wet and damp weather that does not help.
Purrs to Carmine, Milita and Mom
