Milita: Breathless in Denver

Hi everyone, it's Milita today.

See what the Mom's friend, D, did to me?  He covered me over with a blanket.  I usually hate this, but I love him so much that I tolerated it so he could take my photo.

Lately, I have been having some trouble with my asthma.  The Mom was getting really worried because I had been doing so well at our new house.  She mentioned it to a friend, and the friend told her there are a lot of wildfires here in the Western part of the United States.  That is probably what's getting to me.

In any case, I am still doing much better breathing-wise here than I did at our old place, even with the awful wildfires making it harder to breathe.

The Mom has been having horrible sinus troubles and a sore throat, and she is surprised she hasn't had more problems with her asthma with the wildfires than she has had.

This is a photo the Mom's friend, D, took the other day.  You can see more photos of how our air looks in this news story.

In other news, my leg has been hurting me quite a bit lately.  Remember that leg injury I got over a year ago?  I was doing pretty well on gabapentin for a long while with occasional pain flare-ups, but my leg has been giving me pretty consistent trouble for about 3 weeks now.

The Mom keeps trying to tell me that it would probably help my leg if I would just quit doing the, "high dive," off "her" bed.  But what can I say?  I like to jump down!  The Mom has tried to get me to use stairs.  I won't use them.  The Mom has tried to put a box by the bed so I can use that to help me get up and down, but I refuse to use that, too.

So the Mom has resorted to making sure she helps me get off the bed when I want down whenever she is home and awake.  I don't complain about that at all.  It's kind of nice to be pampered, really.  The Mom wants to buy some pillows and make a pillow nest by the bed so I at least land on something soft when she's sleeping and I jump off the bed.

The Mom is talking with the vet about putting me on a chronic low dose of the strong pain medication until the Mom can get a second opinion on my leg from a vet that comes very highly recommended located in Boulder, Colorado.  I don't like the sound of this........but the Mom insists that if there is something more this vet can do for my leg that she wants to know what it is so I can feel better.

In the meantime, I'll try to talk the Mom out of this vet business help my leg feel better by curling up in my nice heated bed.

  1. It seems like the whole western part of the U.S. is on fire. :-( No good for kitties like you, Milita, with such a sensitive system.

I really do hope you get the leg problem figured out - you have been having to deal with it for so long.

  2. Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about your breathing issues. I'm so thankful we don't have the wildfire problems like that around here. Good luck to y'all, and I hope you get- and stay- healthy soon.

  3. I hope the air clears soon and the fires are under control. Its too bad the kitty stairs are not a hit for Milita.

  4. I sure do hope that the air quality gets better and those fires are stopped. They are scary and nasty.

I hope something can be found to help your sore leg feel better too.
Sending lots of POTP and purrs galore.

  5. Oh no Milita, we do hope your air quality improves soon, we're sending mew oodles of purrs!

    Big hugs

  6. Milita, we on the floor, so there isn't as high of a drop, and no one (read: a cat!) can hide underneath either. Maybe that's a solution for your high jumps? Wish we had a solution to smokey air, but other than air purifiers and cleaners, that's about it. Feel better, sweetheart!

  7. We sure hope those fires get put out soon so you can get your breathing going aling easier pretty Lita.

  8. We're sorry you suffer from the fires in your area. We hope you find something to help you with your sore leg. Purrs

  10. I am sorry you have been having trouble with your asthma again, but glad it is better than before. I hope the air quality soon improves for everyone affected by the fires. I hope the specialist vet can do more for your leg so it doesn't hurt you as much any more.

  11. I Am sorry you are having so many troubles and your Mom is too. I hope the fires get put out soon. XO

  12. It is good to h ear from you, Milita, but I am sorry you are feeling poorly ! Purrs and hugs to you, your Mom, & Carmine.

  13. Lita, go along with whatever your mom suggests. She only wants what's best for you! Sorry the wildfires have been affecting your asthma but it's certainly understandable :(

  14. As a cat I say if you're jumping, you can't be in that much pain. We can hide a lot but if we're in a lot of pain, we hide. The Fall allergens are in bloom now so that might be responsible for the breathing if your windows are open but I guess they're not with the fire.
