Hi everyone, it's Lita today. It's been long time since I've been a long the blog. Did you miss me?
Last week, I went to the vet for my sixth Convenia injection. So I finished the course my Internal Medicine vet recommended for me. While I was there, I got some blood work done because I have been urinating a lot and the Mom was concerned about my kidneys. I was overdue for my annual blood work anyway, so the Mom thought it was important to get done in any case. Our vet was nice enough to set up a payment plan with the Mom so I could get the bloods taken.
The Mom was a nervous wreck when they took me to the back because since I was traumatized a couple of years ago, I have been very terrified of "the back." The vet tech assured her that she would come get the Mom if I got upset. The Mom really trusts these people, so that made her feel a little better.
Turns out, the Mom didn't need to be anxious. All I did was growl! The Mom was telling the vet tech about how good they are with me, and the vet tech told her that I m not that bad. :) They said, "We find that if you respect the kitty, they are usually pretty cooperative." The Mom loves that attitude.
Dare we say we have found our vet finally? We used to go to this same clinic as kittens, but then the Mom got sick and disabled and thought she couldn't afford to keep taking us. But we ended up circling back around after a decade, and not only did they remember me and Carmine, but they seem to really care about us. They have been great abut working with the Mom with the finances, too. The Mom thinks it's worth it to keep going to this vet because I feel safe there. She says that is of utmost importance to her!
Anyway....the Mom got the results of my blood work on Tuesday. She talked to Dr. S who said my kidneys, thyroid, and blood sugar all look good! He said that I had a pancreatic enzyme that was high, but he didn't seem to think it was too concerning. I also had high albumin, which can be caused by the Prednisolone I am taking. I also had high bilirubin, but they aren't sure why.
Dr. S says the biggest concern with me is still my lungs. He said we should try to stop the Convenia to see how I do because he doesn't want me to develop a resistance to it. The Mom agrees that this is a good idea, but she is a little nervous because the last time they tried to stop the injections, I did not do so well. She hopes this time is different, and so do I.
Dr. S said if I start coughing again (I am not coughing at all right now), that they will have to take another chest x-ray. I hate being flattened on that machine like a pancake, so please purr and pray that I don't need any more x-rays!
Dr. S said that we will hope for the best for me, but he reminded the Mom that there is still a possibility that I have a tumor. We all hope that is not the case and that I had bacterial pneumonia that cleared up with the Convenia instead.
I will keep you posted. For now, I am breathing pretty well and hope that it stays that way.
Thank you, friends, for all of your love and support for me! I really appreciate it.
