Thankful Thursday and a Jewel Update

Do you remember this post when Carmine wanted to help me with my writing application?  Well....I WAS ACCEPTED!!  I've already written my first article, and I'm working on my second now.  I'm really excited about this; it's opened up a lot of new possibilities for me and my fur babies :)

In other news, a while back, I won a copy of "Love Saves the Day," from Cat Wisdom 101.  I got the book in the mail the other day, and I'm so excited to read it!!

She even autographed it to all of us!! :)

A couple of you were asking about Jewel on my last blog post.  THANK YOU!!  It so warms my heart to know that you all care about her and want to know how she is.  The cat community is just full of amazing kitties and people :)

Jewel has been with me for about two and a half weeks now.  I must say that she seems *much more* relaxed and less stressed than she was before.  She's claimed all the fleece blankets as HERS, and she gets upset if Carmine is on the purple one on the couch if she wants it.

She's been taking her blood pressure meds for about three weeks now.  I think she's tired of the chicken pill pockets, though, so I'm going to see if they come in any other flavors.

She'll go to the vet next week sometime to get her blood pressure checked again.  She's not going to like that....  She'll also need to be weighed again.  I don't know if it's me being overly cautious/sensitive or not, but it feels like she might be losing a little more weight.

Some days, she eats a lot of food.  Others, not so much.  She's eating more than she was on average everyday than she was previously, though, so that's something.  I'm figuring out which flavors of food she likes and which ones she's not crazy about.  She loves Fancy Feast fish and shrimp feast; she went nuts over that one, even having seconds!!

I'm hoping the vet has a good report for her when she goes.  Jewel has been through too much lately.

  1. Congratulations on your article being accepted - what a great step forward. We hope Jewel will get used to her medication and will accept it without any bother soon.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx

  2. I am VERY happy your article was accepted! KUDOS and keep on going in this positive path.

Jewel darling, get well at the Vets and we will be meowing with you while you're there. Vet won't be able to stand it.

  3. Yahoo for getting another writing gig! I hope that works out well for you all. Let us know how the new Gwen Cooper book is.

Pill Pockets also come in salmon and duck flavors. We have tried them all!

  4. Congratulations! I hope you find something else that Jewel likes to take pills with :)

  5. Congratulations on the article and winning the book!
So glad to hear Jewel is doing better! Fingers and paws crossed that the vet agrees and says she's doing great!

  6. Congratulations on your new gig! That is great news. And totally awesome news about Jewel too!

  7. Congratulations to you on the new writing gig and the book! So glad Jewel seems to be doing well. I think that they do make pill pockets in other flavors... beef flavor at the very least.

  8. Congratulations!!!
That is wonderful news about your article and something to really be proud of.

I hear you're going to love Gwen's new book too!

big (((purrs))) to sweet Jewel. Good luck at the vet.

  9. Congratulations on your article! That's awesome!

And we're glad Jewel is eating and doing a bit better. Pill Pockets also come in salmon flavor, so you could try those.

  10. Concats on your article.

Purrrss for Jewel. Glad to hear she is still hanging in there.

  11. Congrats on all of your wonderful news!!! That is fabulous about the article!
Sending Purrs and Prayers for Jewel

  12. Concats on the article. Let's celebrate! You can treat. MOL! I binge eat one day and then hardly eat for 2 days afterward. I also like FF fish and shrimp but TW says it smells horrible.

  13. Sending more purrs to Jewel in hopes that the vet visit goes well. Sounds like the blood pressure medicine might be working. We all have our paws crossed.

  14. Concats on getting your article accepted!
We have our paws crossed for a good vet report for Jewel.

  15. Congratulations on the acceptance of your article. Keep up the good work. I am glad that Jewel is doing better. Pill Pockets do come in other flavors, or there is the "get kitty to open mouth and stick the pill in the back of the throat with your finger" method. I fell in my living room on a big vase and fractured my ribs about five weeks ago. I am almost healed now.

  16. ConCATulations on your article being accepted! How exciting!

We're glad to hear that Jewel is more relaxed and at ease. Pill Pockets come in salmon and duck flavors, too, by the way. :)
