Gabriel

Hi everybody, it's mes, Gabriel, and me is joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday blog hop today.

You know what mes really likes to do? Me likes to sit on top of the air purifiers! There be one in the bedroom and one in the living room. The bedroom one is the most fun, though.

Mama gotted tired of mes pressing all the buttons and changing the setting on the purifiers 20 times a day. So today, Mama is thankful for the child lock feature on the air purifiers, MOL!! Even though mes can't change the settings anymores, the purifiers still be really fun to sit on, and me still visits them many times a day.

What does you be thankful for today?

Thankful Thursday

Gabe

Hi everybody, it's mes, Gabe, and me is joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday blog hop today!

Here me is on Tuesday on my way to de vet. Me gotted poked a lot! Theys gave mes two vaccines and did something called an FIV/FeLV test. Me had the test cause me spent my first month outdoors before a very nice man founded me and my siblings and took us to de shelter. From there, mes went to my foster home at CFFR and then here to my forever home. Mama didn't think me had FIV or FeLV, but hers wanted to make sure.

And de results came back, and me is NEGATIVE for FIV and FeLV. Mama and mes are happy and thankful for dat!

Me is also thankful that me is done with my baby vaccines and won't need another for a whole year now!

Today me is thankful for Mama's bed. It be my favorite place to hang out during de day. Me is especially thankful that the squirt seems to realize this be my spot during de day - hims gets to have de bed at night when Mama goes to sleep cause hims likes to sleep with hers and me has never been a mancat who sleeps with Mama at night.

On de bed, me can (usually) get some peace and quiet, MOL!

Thankful Thursday

 Hi everybody, it's mes, Gabe!

We is joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday blog hop today.

Gabe

Me has been sneezing a lot the past two weeks. My vet told Mama to give me lysine last week when hers took me in for my vaccine. It helped a little, but mes is still sneezing often. Mama noticed mes was getting boogers in my right eye a few days ago. And me has been a bit fussy about my noms.

On Tuesday night, my right eye was all leaky and mes could barely open it. Mama knew mes had an upper respiratory infection, so hers took me to the vet on Wednesday.

Today, we is thankful that our vet was able to see mes between her surgeries. We is especially thankful that Mama didn't have to leave me there for a "drop off" appointment and come get me a few hours later. They were able to see mes while Mama was there.

The vet agrees that me has an upper respiratory infection. Hers gave Mama some eye drops (Tobramycin) to put in my eye three times a day and some antibiotics (Clavamox drops) to give mes twice a day.

Mes is making it fun challenging for Mama by squirming and kicking and twisting when it's medicine time!  Mama says this is gonna be a long week, MOL!!

Me has to go back to the vet in a week so they can make sure me doesn't sound all congested anymore and that my eye looks better.

What do yous be thankful for today?

Gabe

Today we is thankful that we both gotted a clean bill of health!

Mama could only get a photo of mes cause Giovanni was hiding in the bench the whole time. Hims be a scaredy cat at the vet. Meanwhile, mes had fun exploring the room and getting fussed over. Everybody thought me is mighty cute!

We is also thankful that our dear friend, Ann, from Zoolatry made us a new header and footer for our bloggie! Didn't hers do a pawesome job?! Thank mew, Ann!!

Thankful Thursday: Whisker Jewelry

Back in 2023 after Carmine went to the Rainbow Bridge, I saw something beautiful on a friend's page on Facebook. She had posted two pendants that contained her kitties' whiskers. I found out where she'd had them made and went to the Etsy shop online to see about getting one for myself. I ended up getting a whisker ring with one of Carmine's whiskers in it. I cherish it.

I made sure to have the vet get a few of Tylan's whiskers from him after he'd crossed the Rainbow Bridge so that I could get another piece of whisker jewelry made. This time I decided to get a whisker pendant. I asked Volana to make it a blue color similar to that of Tylan's eyes. I sent her a couple of photos for reference and sent off Tylan's whiskers.

Earlier this week, I got my whisker pendant in the mail, and here it is!

Whisker pendant

It is gorgeous! It is even prettier in person - the photo doesn't do it justice. I am thrilled with the piece. Volana does such lovely work.

Today I am thankful that I have a little piece of Carmine and Tylan to carry with me everywhere, a sweet reminder that they are never far away.

Thankful Thursday: Brotherly Love

 Hi everyone!

We are joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday blog hop today.

When Carmine was alive, he liked Tylan pretty well, but he did not like it when Tylan got right in his face. Carmine wanted Tylan to lay near him, not on him.

Carmine and Tylan

So when Tylan wanted to snuggle Carmine in Carmine's favorite bed, Carmine was a good big brother and stayed for a few minutes before he'd wander off to let Tylan have the bed to himself. But once in a while, Carmine actually seemed to enjoy the snuggle and would stay put for a little while longer.

Giovanni and Tylan

Then, when Giovanni first came home to join our family as a kitten, he'd crawl into the heated bed with Tylan, snuggle right up against him, and have a nap!

As Giovanni got older, he decided he's not a fan of beds, BUT you could almost always find him and Tylan hanging out next to each other, whether it was in the cat tree, on my bed, or on the floor with Tylan in his heated bed and Giovanni just outside of it.

Both Carmine and Giovanni loved Tylan and enjoyed his company. It was so sweet to see that both of them felt safe and comfortable with him and snuggled him, even if it wasn't always their preference to share a bed.

Carmine and Giovanni are thankful for the brotherly love they shared with Tylan.

Thankful Thursday

Giovanni

Hi everybody, it's mes, Giovanni!

We is joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday blog hop today because even in the toughest of times, there always be something to be thankful for.

First, me and Mama is so thankful for all de sweet and heartfelt comments everyone left us here on de blog and on Mama's Facebook page about Tylan going to Rainbow Bridge. All of de comments show just how much hims was loved by all. We sure miss that mancat, but we is so thankful that we gotted to have hims in our family. Hims was with Mama for 6.5 years, and mes gotted to spend my first two years of life with hims as my big brother. Hims was a good big brother.

Second, me is thankful for all of de extra attention and playtime me is getting! Me was a sad mancat de first few days after Tylan went to Rainbow Bridge. Mama has been making a whole lot of fuss over mes, giving mes extra attention, playing with mes, and hers even lets me pull her hair sometimes when hers sleeps right now, MOL!!

Mama is thankful me seems to be adjusting to life without my brother physically here (but mes still sees him around). It will take some time for us both to adjust, but we has each other for love and support, and that is definitely something to be thankful for.

Thankful Thursday: No More Bandages

Hi everybody, it's mes, Giovanni! Today we be joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday blog hop!

You might remember that three weeks ago, on March 26th, mes had a toe amputated from my back left footie because it had a cancerous mast cell tumor on it. Then mes had to wear this pesky thing. For 18.5 whole days. Mes was not amused.

Giovanni

For a whole 18.5 days, mes couldn't run, curl up in my tiny tree, get in the window, or chase my favorite toys. It was all kinds of no fun for Giovanni! Mama tried to help mes not be so bored. Hers gotted me a new thing called a snuffle mat, and mes and Tylan had some fun hunting for treats in it. But mes was still sad me couldn't go where me wanted or do what me wanted.

Thankful Thursday

Hi everybody! It's me, Tylan, today. We are joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday blog hop because we have a lot to be thankful for this week!

Tylan

First, today is our Mom lady's birthday! She is elebendy billion years old today. We love her SO much. We are thankful she gives us a nice warm home with lots of comfy beds and blankies to sleep on, toys to play with, and plenty of food to fill our bellies. We appreciate how our Mom lady pays attention to what we like and makes every effort to make sure we are happy, healthy, and comfortable. We can feel her love for us everyday, and we know we are lucky boys to have found her (though she says SHE'S the lucky one because she has us!).

Happy Birthday from me and Giovanni! We love you!

The Mom lady got an early birthday present of sorts on Monday. I will let her tell you about it.

Mom lady here: Giovanni's pathology report came on Monday (much sooner than I had anticipated!). It showed that his mast cell tumor was, in fact, cancerous. HOWEVER, they graded it as a low-risk/low-grade tumor, so the chance that it metastisized anywhere else is very small. Our vet got clean margins on his tumor by amputating his toe, so there is no need for further surgery or chemotherapy or anything.

I am so incredibly thankful that the vet tech caught the tumor when she was clipping Giovanni's nails. Had it continued to grow, who knows if we would have had the same outcome. I am also thankful for our vet's hard work and care for my boys. I can tell she truly cares about my babies and wants the best for them.

Giovanni will be prone to developing more mast cell tumors for the rest of his life, unfortunately. But we are all going to check him regularly for lumps and bumps so we can catch any problems before they get too serious (we hope!).

Giovanni

As you can see, Giovanni is still grumpy about his bandage. One more week to go until he has his sutures removed and doesn't have to wear it or his donut collar anymore. All things considered, he's being a good little fuzzy patient.

I am also thankful to all of you - everyone who sent purrs and prayers and healing energy to Giovanni. Thank you!

Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday

We are joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday blog hop today because we have a special reason to be thankful today.

Some of you might know that Dad Terry from Brian's Home - Forever is my best friend. That's right, he is a saint and puts up with my babbling away at him every single day!

A lot of you who know Terry know that he has 9 kitties and a wonderful wife named Celesta. Today is Celesta's birthday, and we are thankful for HER today!

Flowers

I don't know Celesta as well as Terry, but here are few things I DO know about her:

  • Celesta's favorite color is purple (I love purple, too!).
  • She is a good cook. Terry is always making me jealous by telling me what he's having for dinner. I wish I could go and taste some of Celesta's delicious cooking myself!
  • Celesta loves kitties as much as I do.
  • She loves Christmas movies, and she reads a lot of books.
  • Celesta is thoughtful, kind, and sweet!
I have even gotten to talk to Celesta a few times before, which was really cool!

The boys and I hope you have a most wonderful birthday today, Celesta! We are thankful for you and your friendship, and we love you!

Purrs and love,

Tylan, Giovanni, and Mom Sierra

Thankful Thursday: Good Days

 Hi everyone!

We are joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday blog hop today.

Tylan and Giovanni

Today, I am thankful for the good days Tylan is having. For over a week now, he's been eating more (still not enough, evidenced by the fact that he lost another 1/3 pound these past two weeks, but he is definitely eating more!) and acting much more like his old self. In fact, he no longer sleeps with me, which is bittersweet because I loved having him sleep with me, but it means he's feeling better.

He spends a few hours in the basket on his tree sunbathing every afternoon like he always used to. And the past couple of days, he's even tried to escape into the building hallway and make me chase him around the building like he used to do! In fact, he made an escape once these past couple of days, but he didn't get very far before I brought him back in to the apartment.

I honestly don't know if Tylan is rallying or if he's actually getting better and will stay that way for a while. I guess time will tell. In any case, I'm so happy he is feeling good and enjoying his life again.

What are you thankful for today? Please share with us in the comments!

Thankful Thursday

Carmine
Carmine watched over Lita when she didn't feel well.

Today, we are thankful for Angel Carmine. You might have seen that his brithday was earlier this week. He would have been 20 years old.

Even though Carmine is no longer here in his kitty body, he is still here in spirit. I have seen him several times in the past few weeks after not seeing him for a while. My animal communication instructor has told me more than once that Carmine has been around in the past few weeks to help support Tylan and me as we go through this difficult time with Tylan's end-stage kidney disease and other health issues. She says that Carmine is often right by Tylan's side.

Thankful Thursday and a Tylan Update

Tylan

Hi everyone!

The Mom here with another update on Tylan.

It's been about a week and a half since Tylan came home from the hospital. The first few days were pretty rough as he did not want to eat much. After talking to Tylan's Internal Medicine (IM) vet, we decided to raise his Zofran dose, and that does seem to be making him feel better as he is now eating more.

He went back to the hospital on Monday to have labs done for his Internal Medicine specialist.

When he came home from the hospital, Tylan's creatinine was 5.8. On Monday, his creatinine was 6.1. His IM vet warned me that his creatinine would go up once he was off the IV fluids, so I wasn't surprised to see it go up a bit. I was surprised that it didn't go up more than it did. I am thankful that, for now, he is holding relatively stable. His creatinine isn't good by any means - he is now in end-stage kidney disease, but I truly am grateful that he is doing better than he was before he was hospitalized.

Do you know what else I'm thankful for? PET INSURANCE!

Tylan's hospital bill (for 5 days) was nearly $6,500.  His insurance is reimbursing me at 90%, which means I'll be out hundreds, not thousands, of dollars. I am so thankful I decided to get pet insurance for Tylan when I adopted him six years ago. It has been a real blessing and has helped me tremendously with the costs of his care.

That's all we have today. We are joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday blog hop. Please let us know something you are thankful for today in the comments; we love hearing from you!

I'll continue to keep you all posted on how Tylan is doing. Thank you all so much again for all the love and support you have been and continue to give us.

Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday on a Friday Plus an Update on Tylan

Tylan
Tylan sits on his nest of blankets in his kennel at the hospital on Sunday night.

Hi everyone,

The Mom here with another update on Tylan.

Tylan spent last Thursday through this Monday in the hospital receiving IV fluids, antibiotics, anti-nausea medication, and an appetite stimulant. I visited him every day, and he was always happy to see me and never wanted me to leave him. It was heartbreaking for me to leave him each night.

Tylan's kidney values were tested daily. He entered the hospital with a creatinine of 12.1 and a BUN of 140. Upon discharge on Monday afternoon, his creatinine was 5.8 and BUN was 74. These values are much improved, but they are still too high. Sadly, he is in end-stage (stage 4) kidney disease now. I am still in shock over how fast he went from stage 2 to end-stage. I am thankful that the IV fluids and medications bought us a little more time together.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thankful Thursday: Update on Mama's Health

Giovanni

Hi everybody, it's mes, Giovanni!

Maybe you remember this post where mes told you about Mama's tummy issues and foot and asked for purrs and prayers for her?

Well, hers foot is pretty much back to normal finally!

AND the doctors think they figured out what be wrong with Mama's tummy! It seems to have been a two-fold problem, Mama told me. The severe heartburn hers was having was actually being caused by the prednisone hers was taking. Hers switched back to hydrocortisone (yes, it comes in a pill!), and about a week later, hers heartburn was nearly gone! Hers is very happy to not have heartburn everyday nows!!

Mama also tested positive for something called Helicobacter pylori (H pylor). Many humans have this bacteria in their tummies and never know it because it doesn't usually cause symptoms. Mama is just one of the lucky ones, MOL. That is what caused Mama's tummy ulcer.

Hers is now on a bunch of antibiotics and acid reducers for de next two weeks. One of de antibiotics they has hers on makes her feel bad, so hers hopes the two weeks go fast. After de meds, they wait for two months and then test Mama again. Sometimes de infection requires multiple rounds of treatment. Mama hopes she gets lucky and it will all be gone after one round!

In any case, we is quite thankful that Mama has a good doctor who listens to hers and investigates when there be a problem.

Mes and Tylan has been giving hers purr therapy. We is sure hers will be back to new soon.

What do you be thankful for today?

We is joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday blog hop.
