Mancat Monday

Jewel generally doesn't like other cats (or people) in her space, so when Carmine was able to sit, and then lay down by her, I was pretty surprised.  He's been able to do this a few other times, but even more surprising this time was the fact that Carmine had part of his body on top of Jewel's!!

They were like this for at least a half an hour!

Carmine: I'm giving my Jewel healing purrs.

Jewel had a good day, but not a good night.  She's gotten sick twice tonight (and this makes three separate days she's gotten sick in the pas week).

  1. Aw, that's so sweet. We're sorry Jewel got sick. It's not unusual for CRF kitties to vomit. Did your vet ever mention giving Jewel 1/4 tab of regular strength pepcid once a day to help stomach upset? I used to give my CRF kitty that. You may want to ask about it. There are also some homeopathic things you can use like slippery elm bark.

  2. I saw your comment on Island Cats and you might want to ask your vet for a pill applicator. We just got one when we took in foster brofur Leo and it works really well. You put the pill in the end, then get it in the front of the mouth, the applicator is long enough it goes to back of throat then eject the pill. Some cats may need to be lightly scuffed but it never harms them and the good from the pill is worth a short moment of indignation at being scuffed. Mom and Dad have lots of experience pilling cats and dogs. Hope she feels better.

  3. Hi, we came back because your mom had questions. Tell your mom to go to felinecrf.org. It's a great site that explains lots of things about crf. As far as pilling Jewel, the mom doesn't have any tips that your mom hasn't already tried. We're all pretty easy to pill or she uses pill pockets. The only homeopathic remedy for stomach upset that she knows about is slippery elm bark. But the mom can't remember how to mix it up for cats. If she googles it, she should be able to find that info. Or she can contact Cheri over at Cats of the Wildcat Woods. She knows all about that stuff. Good luck!

  4. What a sweet picture. Sorry to learn that Jewel was sick. We've used Slippery Elm Bark to help kitties and humans with upset tums and it's powerful stuff.

    Sending Jewel tummy calming purrs
