Fetch ID Review

Fetch ID has developed a new way for lost pets to be reunited with their owners.  So when we got the opportunity to review the service, we were thrilled!

Typically, when veterinarians or shelters find a lost pet, they must call an 800-number, wait on hold, present the company with the pet's microchip number, and wait while the company searches for the owner's contact information.  With Fetch ID, veterinarians and shelters can access an owner's contact information directly through a simple Google search of the pet's microchip number, which can even be done on a mobile device.  Veterinarians and shelters do not need a Fetch ID account to search for an owner's information.

Fetch ID works with ALL microchip brands, even if you've registered your pet's microchip with another company.

Fetch ID also includes these services when you register your pet:

  • Lost Pet Alerts: When you report your pet as missing, you can easily send out a lost pet alert to all the veterinarians and shelters in your area.
  • Lost Pet Poster: You can create and print lost pet posters to put up in your neighborhood.  The posters will include your pet's microchip number.
  • Travel Assistance: If your furry friend travels over 500 miles away from home, Fetch ID will cover up to $500 to fly your pet home.
Unline other companies, Fetch ID not only gives veterinarians and shelters your phone number, they give your e-mail address as well.  This makes it easier for vets and shelters to contact you if your pet is found.  Additionally, you can easily add a secondary contact's phone number and e-mail to your profile.

Registration is very simple and quick.  The one-time fee of $9.99 covers your pet for life; there are no annual fees.  Once you've registered a pet, you can easily register other pets in your home by clicking the "Register New Pet" tab in your profile section.

In each pet's profile you can include: your phone number and e-mail, a secondary contact's phone number and e-mail, your pet's name, and a photo of him or her.  To see what a vet or shelter sees when they search a lost pet's microchip number, enter 900108000941405 into Google.

I really love the idea of veterinarians and shelters being able to search for lost pets more easily.  The one thing I hope Fetch ID will add in the future is a section on the pet's profile to list any special needs, medical conditions, or medications a pet takes.  This is really important information for a veterinarian or a shelter to know while they try to locate a pet owner.

Overall, I believe Fetch ID has a great concept, and I hope that this new service will allow more pets to be reunited with their humans.

You can register for Fetch ID on the company's website.  You can also connect with them on Facebook and Twitter

Thank you, Fetch ID, for the opportunity to review your service!

  5. We like the idea of a central site. Unfortunately, a microchip is only worthwhile if the pet is scanned on intake at a shelter. Our shelter did not do it under the prior "regime." Don't know if they do it now, but it should be a requirement.

  6. We're big supporters of microchips, so the easier it is for people to reunite pets using chips, the better for everyone! We find it intriguing that the microchip number will be "google-able."

  7. We both have a microchip ; in Switzerland, the society that manage it is ANIS. We're big fans, even for indoor kitties ! Purrs

  10. The registration fee is no longer a "one time" reasonable fee, now they want $19.99 PER YEAR! This is not acceptable; a free chip given to a family because they cannot afford one is no good if they have to come up with an annual fee....

    1. My Vet only charge $37.00 one time fee for micro chip. This yearly rate is a rip off.

    2. Yes, I got this too from a rescue and I can't believe there is a yearly fee! This is ridiculous.

    3. Yes, the pet I adopted from a shelter has a chip that I'm supposed to register through Fetch ID and I'm supposed to pay $19.99 per year for the rest of the pet's life. That one-time fee of $9.99 looks like it was a bait-and-switch. This looks like an unethical company to me.

  11. I just rescued a pup from a foster/rescue. I am on a fixed income and when I tried to register my chip number with a free web site it was not excepted. So hopefully my puppy never gets away from me.

  13. Truth be told this is junk don't fall for it better products out there. I entered chip number and found out that there's no GPS. I can't locate dog with it so if people find him and keep him I could find him only if scanned worthless I just spent hours looking for him. With todays technology should have gps on it all it did for me was added stress finding ingredients its worthles. You can even buy a cheap gps tracker tag that i use in tool bags at work sites that have gps i have called self-portrait anti-lost/theft device under 5.00 no other cost involved im now got one on my French Bulldog. Don't add to the stress of a lost dog with this crap. There's lots out there look best of luck let others know please.
