Remembering Tylan on His Angelversary

Tylan

Today marks the one year anniversary of Tylan's passing. I cannot believe it's been an entire year already. It's been one looooong year.

Most of you know what a tough life Tylan had. He came from a hoarding situation in Bangkok, Thailand. While his caretaker had the best of intentions, she simply couldn't reasonably care for all the kitties she had (30-40 in a one-room apartment). So, he spent weeks, months, or years(?) in a hard plastic carrier not getting enough food to eat.

Thankfully, Demi from Demi's Animal Rescue met him while in Thailand to film a documentary . She saw what terrible shape his mouth was in and decided to help him and three other Siamese living with him.

He actually told the story about how he came to America in our anthology, Purrseverance: Inspiring Cat Stories of Resilience and Hope

You can read Tylan's very first blog post here.

Tylan struggled with many chronic health issues throughout his short life, but he was one of the most joyful cats I've ever known.

Tylan

When he was young, he'd toss toys into the air and then jump off the floor with all four of his feet to catch them. He loved everyone, people and other cats. And he was obsessed with getting as many tummy rubs as possible.

He captured hearts everywhere he went. He was the favorite patient of many vet techs and veterinarians. And I still can't believe I was the one he chose to be his human. What an honor that little man gave me.

He loved Carmine from the day they met at our meet and greet at his foster home. And when Giovanni joined our family as a tiny kitten, he welcomed him into his heart with open paws.

Tylan loved attention, and if he didn't feel like he was getting enough of it, he'd let you know! He loved to tell everyone what he thought about everything, and if you didn't listen, he'd express his opinions with more and more gusto until you did!

He was a very loving little man. In fact, he loved me so much, he held on for days just to make sure I'd be okay when he went to the Rainbow Bridge. It was the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me, but we agreed it was time to end his suffering and let him fly free on May 13, 2025. It was the most loving and hardest thing I eve did for him.

Tylan and Giovanni

Fortunately, Angel Carmine was watching over all of us and was helping Tylan prepare for his journey to Rainbow Bridge. Now they are together again, along with Angels Lita and Jewel, and I know they are all watching over us. We will all see one another again, I have no doubt.

I am so fortunate I had the opportunity to love this special little man. I am thankful he chose me to be his person in this life. It was a short life, but I think he was happy in our home for the six years we had together. He certainly blessed and enriched so many lives while he was here on earth.

I miss Tylan everyday, and I know that Giovanni misses him, too.

We love you, our precious little angel.

Tylan
