Thankful Thursday: Giovanni's First Dental

 Hi everybody, it's me, Giovanni, and me is joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday blog hop today!

Me had my first dental yesterday (Wednesday). Me tried to hide from Mama. Me hid well, too! Mama had to call her bestie and ask him to help her look for me, MOL!! Mama was getting scared hers would not find me and would have to cancel my dental, but hers finally found me. Me was coming out from under the couch! Mama looked under there three times and me was not there. Mama's bestie thinks me was moving from one hiding place to another so Mama could not find me! Me almost won.....almost. 

But in the end, me got put in the carrier and carted off to the vet. 

Ginger Cat Appreciation Day

 Today is Ginger Cat Appreciation Day!

Mama says today is the day everyone takes the time to admire orangies, like us. But everyday is Ginger Cat Day here! Nonetheless, Mama will spoil us a little extra today so we feel especially loved.

We hope all of our orange kitty friends get extra love and spoiling today, too!

Thankful Thursday

Hi everyone, it's me, Giovanni, and we is joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday blog hop today!

Last week me went to de v-e-t to have some follow-up bloodwork done. 

Well, the next day the vet called Mama and said she thinks me is a DIABETIC KITTY! Mama said, "WHAT?!?!" The vet said my glucose came in at 324. 

Mama told the vet me has NO symptoms of diabetes. So they decided to run a fructosamine test on me that would tell them what my blood glucose has been like over the past two weeks. 

Mama was 99.9% sure that my high blood glucose level was because me is SO terrified at the vet, but she wanted to make sure. So, Mama waited on pins and needles for two more days because the lab was being very slow with my test.

It turns out my fructosamine was just fine! 

She says me is sweet but not TOO sweet! MOL!

Mama is going to try and spot check me sometime in the next month, but the vet is planning to run another fructosamine test on me and recheck my potassium (because it was a bit low) when me goes in for my dental in September.

So today me and Mama are thankful me is not a sugar baby and that me is healthy for my dental next month.

Hi everybody, it's mes, Giovanni!

First, me wants to say thank you for all of de purrs and prayers for my belly! Mama started me on that medicine today, and hers was impressed with how cooperative me was about taking it!

Today be MY THIRD GOTCHA DAY!!!!

Yep, three years ago, me came to live with Mama and Tylan when me was just a tiny kitten!

Here me is at my foster home de day Mama came to visit me.

Today, me is so thankful to have a forever home, and me is thankful that my sisters, brother, and cat mama all have forever homes, too. 

Giovanni's Upset Tummy

 

Hi everybydoy, it's me, Giovanni!

Me has been vomiting fairly often lately, so despite my loud, mournful, pitiful protests, Mama put me in my carrier and took me to the vet last week! It was quite the indignity!

Me couldn't see my primary vet 'cause hers was already all booked up, so mes saw another nice vet in the clinic, and hers worked with my primary vet to come up with a plan for me. 

The nice vet lady felt my belly for any tumors, and hers felt none! That was everybody's main concern since mes had a cancerous subcutaneous mast cell tumor last year and had to have a toe removed from one of my little back feeties. Mama was very relieved that me has no masses in my belly!

Thankful Thursday

 Yesterday was the one-year anniversary of Tylan's passing. Of course I miss him, but for this week's Thankful Thursday, Giovanni and I are thankful for the time we got to spend with Tylan while he was here. 

Tylan was a very special little man. He was a joyful cat.

Tylan loved his humans and his kitty friends. Carmine liked Tylan as long as he stayed out of his personal bubble. But it wasn't until Giovani came along that Tylan had the kind of kitty friend his heart desired. When Giovanni was a tiny kitten, he'd curl up with Tylan in the heated bed. As Giovanni got older, he hung out with Tylan a lot like this—right next to his bed. 

Thankful Thursday: Birthday Fun!

 Hi everybody, it's mes, Giovanni! Me is joining Angel Brains' Thankful Thursday blog hop today.

Before me begins, me wants to apologize for the crummy photos in this post. Mama did not do a good job of capturing how adorable me is.

My third birthday was on Sunday.

Me had a good day. Mama had ham for dinner and shared some with me and Gabriel! Ham be our favorite! Later on, we had a nice play session with our new laser pointers. Mama really likes the one with the green light because it is easier for hers to see than the red light. Me and Gabriel go bonkers for it every night at playtime.

 Today is a very special day here. It's Giovanni's third birthday!

To be honest, Giovanni had a rough year.

Just three days before his second birthday, he had to have one of his toes on his back foot amputated because he had a mast cell tumor on it. His mast cell tumor ended up being cancerous. He recovered well (though he tore his bandage off about 40 times during the two and a half weeks he had to wear it!) and adapted well to his missing toe. 

Last May, we lost Tylan. When I brought Giovanni home as a 10-week-old kitten, Tylan welcomed him with open paws. Tylan was so happy to have another kitty friend after we lost our sweet Carmine. Tylan immediately accepted and loved Giovanni from the first minute he entered our lives. And it only took Giovanni 24 hours to return Tylan's love. 

When Giovanni was a kitten, he would curl up right by his new big brother in his heated bed. They were good pals. 

Last June, I brought Gabriel home. Giovanni initially struggled with this. He found Gabriel's kitten energy to be too much. How quickly Giovanni forgot that he was that energetic not too long ago...

Giovanni and Gabriel get along pretty well these days. Gabriel has calmed down a little (but still has lots of energy!). I find the boys curled up together for naps more days than not. They happily sleep together for hours at a time. Giovanni even lets Gabriel bathe his head and face! It's so sweet to watch.

Thankful Thursday: Professional Furniture Assembly

 Hi everyone, we are joining Angel Brain's Thankful Thursday blog hop today.

Look at what got delivered to our house last week! It be an office chair and another bookcase for Mama's bazillion and one books. Mama said that this office chair is for her, so she can start researching and writing her new book, but we know hers really bought it for us! We both really loved napping on this nice box.

Today we be thankful for furniture assembly services. 

This be de new bookcase.

Mama be thankful for professional assembly services because hers knew there was no way hers could put together de new chair or bookcase by herself. We is thankful for de service because we didn't have to hear Mama spewing any HBO words trying to put these things together, MOL!!

Giovanni: Good guess, but no. My birthday isn't until March. Just a few days before yours, actually. 

Today is Kiss a Ginger Cat Day!

Gabe: Ummmm, Giovanni? Isn't that EVERYDAY?? 

Giovanni: Good point. It is here, yes, 'cause Mama kisses us everyday, but today other people will also kiss us. So we get extra smooches today.

Gabe: Really?! Cool!! Mes LOVES attention, ya know.

Giovanni: Yes, me knows...

The squirt likes to pester mes when hims is awake, but hims is pretty all right when hims is sleeping! So today, me is thankful for sleeping kittens! MOL. 

Most nights, mes lets Gabe curl up near mes and have a nap. As long as he isn't trying to suckle on mes, me thinks he's an okay baby brother. 

Mama always fusses over how adorable we is when wenaptogether.

Today me is thankful that my Mama's friend came over and clipped my claws so me didn't have to go to the vet with the squirt last week! Instead, me gotted to stay home and enjoy de peace and quiet. Me sure was happy about dat!

Today me is thankful for Mama's bed. It be my favorite place to hang out during de day. Me is especially thankful that the squirt seems to realize this be my spot during de day - hims gets to have de bed at night when Mama goes to sleep cause hims likes to sleep with hers and me has never been a mancat who sleeps with Mama at night.

On de bed, me can (usually) get some peace and quiet, MOL!

 Hi everybody, it's mes, Gabe! 

We is joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday blog hop today.

Yesterday, me and Giovanni went to the vet. Giovanni had to get his annual exam and me had to get a kitten exam and a vaccine. 

Mes weighed in at 2.83 pounds while Giovanni weighed in at 12.13 pounds, MOL!! Mes has gained 0.6 pounds since me came to live with Mama. Hers can't believe how fast me is growing. 

Today we is thankful that we both gotted a clean bill of health! 

Mama could only get a photo of mes cause Giovanni was hiding in the bench the whole time. Hims be a scaredy cat at the vet. Meanwhile, mes had fun exploring the room and getting fussed over. Everybody thought me is mighty cute!

We is also thankful that our dear friend, Ann, from Zoolatry made us a new header and footer for our bloggie! Didn't hers do a pawesome job?! Thank mew, Ann!!

Welcome Home, Gabriel!

It's been hard keeping this a secret for an entire week! But now I can finally let the cat out of the bag.

Gabriel (Oak) the day we met.

About 2.5 weeks ago, I was looking at the kitties at Giovanni's rescue website just to see.... I honestly didn't think I was ready for another kitten. But then I saw an orangie and well.....my heart went pitter patter. 

I applied o adopt from the rescue again, but by the time my application was accepted a mere several hours later, the kitten I was inquiring about had been adopted. Well, rats! So I kept an eye on the site the following days. I saw two orange brothers and inquired about them. Again, adopted out. Next, I saw two more orange brothers and actually set up a meeting with the foster to come meet them. Woohoo! But then she told me (several hours before I was supposed to meet them) that someone had adopted them. I saw an orange and white guy who was adorable, but he was also adopted out before I heard from the foster. Rats, rats, rats! 

Then, the first kitten I'd inquired about was up for adoption again, but he had coccidia. 

I was starting to wonder if God was telling me no, no kitten, not right now. 

But I decided to take one last stab at it...and set up a meeting to meet two kittens, Cedar and Oak. Again, another pair of orange brothers. 

When I was asking their fosters about them, it seemed like Cedar was everything I was looking for - snuggly, sweet, talkative, playful, and likes other kitties. But he wasn't all that interested in me. Oak, on the other hand, kept saying, "Pick me, pick me, PICK ME!!!!" I've learned enough to know that you have to listen to the cat, so I went home and told the rescue I'd like to adopt him.

Hi everybody!

It's mes, Giovanni! Guess what today be?!

It be my SECOND GOTCHA DAY!!!! Can yous believe it? Mama says hers can't believe it's been two years already! Hers tells mes it was like yesterday when hers broughted me home as a 10-week-old kitten. Hers likes to show off de photo she took of mes the day wes met. Here it be.

Mama has had lots of fun getting to know me the past two years! Some things have changed over time while others have not.

Me still loves belly rubs! Mama is convinced mes learned to love belly rubs by watching Tylan. Me didn't ask for any belly rubs at my foster home when me met Mama, but after me saw Tylan demanding them, me started demanding them, too! Now me demands Mama rub my belly numerous times a day.

Giovanni loves belly rubs and requests them numerous times each day.

Me still loves my favorite spot on de big cat tree. Me has always loved de second to highest spot on de tree. Me can sunbathe and watch out de window from there. 

Thankful Thursday: Brotherly Love

 Hi everyone!

We are joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday blog hop today.

When Carmine was alive, he liked Tylan pretty well, but he did not like it when Tylan got right in his face. Carmine wanted Tylan to lay near him, not on him. 

So when Tylan wanted to snuggle Carmine in Carmine's favorite bed, Carmine was a good big brother and stayed for a few minutes before he'd wander off to let Tylan have the bed to himself. But once in a while, Carmine actually seemed to enjoy the snuggle and would stay put for a little while longer. 

Then, when Giovanni first came home to join our family as a kitten, he'd crawl into the heated bed with Tylan, snuggle right up against him, and have a nap! 

As Giovanni got older, he decided he's not a fan of beds, BUT you could almost always find him and Tylan hanging out next to each other, whether it was in the cat tree, on my bed, or on the floor with Tylan in his heated bed and Giovanni just outside of it. 

Both Carmine and Giovanni loved Tylan and enjoyed his company. It was so sweet to see that both of them felt safe and comfortable with him and snuggled him, even if it wasn't always their preference to share a bed. 

Carmine and Giovanni are thankful for the brotherly love they shared with Tylan.

Hi everybody, it's mes, Giovanni!

We is joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday blog hop today because even in the toughest of times, there always be something to be thankful for.

First, me and Mama is so thankful for all de sweet and heartfelt comments everyone left us here on de blog and on Mama's Facebook page about Tylan going to Rainbow Bridge. All of de comments show just how much hims was loved by all. We sure miss that mancat, but we is so thankful that we gotted to have hims in our family. Hims was with Mama for 6.5 years, and mes gotted to spend my first two years of life with hims as my big brother. Hims was a good big brother. 

Second, me is thankful for all of de extra attention and playtime me is getting! Me was a sad mancat de first few days after Tylan went to Rainbow Bridge. Mama has been making a whole lot of fuss over mes, giving mes extra attention, playing with mes, and hers even lets me pull her hair sometimes when hers sleeps right now, MOL!! 

Mama is thankful me seems to be adjusting to life without my brother physically here (but mes still sees him around). It will take some time for us both to adjust, but we has each other for love and support, and that is definitely something to be thankful for.

Thankful Thursday: No More Bandages

 Hi everybody, it's mes, Giovanni! Today we be joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday blog hop!

You might remember that three weeks ago, on March 26th, mes had a toe amputated from my back left footie because it had a cancerous mast cell tumor on it. Then mes had to wear this pesky thing. For 18.5 whole days. Mes was not amused.

For a whole 18.5 days, mes couldn't run, curl up in my tiny tree, get in the window, or chase my favorite toys. It was all kinds of no fun for Giovanni! Mama tried to help mes not be so bored. Hers gotted me a new thing called a snuffle mat, and mes and Tylan had some fun hunting for treats in it. But mes was still sad me couldn't go where me wanted or do what me wanted.

Thankful Thursday

 Hi everybody! It's me, Tylan, today. We are joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday blog hop because we have a lot to be thankful for this week!

First, today is our Mom lady's birthday! She is elebendy billion years old today. We love her SO much. We are thankful she gives us a nice warm home with lots of comfy beds and blankies to sleep on, toys to play with, and plenty of food to fill our bellies. We appreciate how our Mom lady pays attention to what we like and makes every effort to make sure we are happy, healthy, and comfortable. We can feel her love for us everyday, and we know we are lucky boys to have found her (though she says SHE'S the lucky one because she has us!). 

Happy Birthday from me and Giovanni! We love you!

The Mom lady got an early birthday present of sorts on Monday. I will let her tell you about it.

Mom lady here: Giovanni's pathology report came on Monday (much sooner than I had anticipated!). It showed that his mast cell tumor was, in fact, cancerous. HOWEVER, they graded it as a low-risk/low-grade tumor, so the chance that it metastisized anywhere else is very small. Our vet got clean margins on his tumor by amputating his toe, so there is no need for further surgery or chemotherapy or anything.

I am so incredibly thankful that the vet tech caught the tumor when she was clipping Giovanni's nails. Had it continued to grow, who knows if we would have had the same outcome. I am also thankful for our vet's hard work and care for my boys. I can tell she truly cares about my babies and wants the best for them.

Giovanni will be prone to developing more mast cell tumors for the rest of his life, unfortunately. But we are all going to check him regularly for lumps and bumps so we can catch any problems before they get too serious (we hope!). 

As you can see, Giovanni is still grumpy about his bandage. One more week to go until he has his sutures removed and doesn't have to wear it or his donut collar anymore. All things considered, he's being a good little fuzzy patient.
